Optional Tastes & Tours

We want you to have the best time in Verona, so in addition to the events above, we’re planning a couple of optional experiences for anyone who wants to squeeze every last drop out of the week.

On Wednesday, June 3, we’re offering a traditional Italian cooking class where you'll get hands-on with fresh ingredients and classic recipes. Then on Thursday, June 4, you'll have two ways to spend the day: one option is a wine tasting tour to some of our favorite wineries in Veneto Valley, and the other is a guided sightseeing tour through some of Verona’s most beautiful spots.

These are totally optional, but if you're up for it, we'd love to have you join!

Travel & Accommodations

Airports

Hotels

Hotel Due Torri

We’d love for you to stay with us at Hotel Due Torri, one of our favorite hotels in the world. Located in the heart of Verona’s historic center, the hotel sits just outside the main piazzas and is steps from Basilica di Santa Anastasia, where we’ll be getting married. It will also host both our wedding reception and Brunch D’addio.

To make things easy, we’re working on securing a room block with special rates from Sunday, May 31 to Sunday, June 7.

Room block details coming soon.

Nearby Hotels

While we truly hope you'll stay with us at Hotel Due Torri, we've included a few other options for your consideration that are all in the heart of Verona. Please note that we do not have a room block at these hotels so we highly recommend booking your accommodations as soon as possible to secure the best availability and pricing.

Airbnb

If you're looking to room with a large group or want to live like a local, Airbnb is a great option and they are plentiful in Verona!

Local Transport

Airport Transportation

For a seamless and stress-free arrival to Verona, we recommend booking a private car service either through your hotel or a trusted provider like Carey Limo. There are also trains and buses that travel from Milan Malpensa (MXP) to Verona.

Getting Around

All events will take place in Verona, a beautifully walkable city made for exploring on foot. The historic center is closed to cars and full of charming cobblestone streets, scenic piazzas, and winding alleyways. There's truly no need for a car during your stay.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is Verona?

Verona, coined “the city of love,” is a charming town in the Veneto region of northern Italy, filled with cobblestone streets, buzzing piazzas, historic architecture, and some of the best food and wine you’ll ever taste. Maureen has been coming to Verona for decades, and when she brought George for the first time, it quickly became one of his favorite places too. We can’t wait to share this special city with you!

What's the weather like in June?

Early June in Verona is usually warm and sunny - think high 70s to low 80s during the day, with cooler evenings that may call for a light layer. Most events will take place outdoors or involve walking through town, so we recommend packing comfortable shoes, breathable fabrics, sun protection, and something for the occasional breeze or evening chill.

What's the dress code?

While comfort is key in this walking city, we are in Italy, the fashion capitol of the world, after all. Color and personality are encouraged at all events.

Welcome Apertivo: Garden Cocktail
This evening will take place in a private garden with gravel pathways, so we recommend wedges, block heels, or flat shoes. Women might opt for a cocktail dress, jumpsuit, or colorful separates. For men, lightweight suits or dress pants with a collared shirt work well. No ties or denim please.

Dinner in Verona: Upscale Casual
Held partially outdoors overlooking Piazza Bra and the Arena, this dinner calls for something polished but not overdone. Women might choose a sundress, midi skirt, or elevated day-to-night look. Men should wear chinos or dress pants with a button-down shirt or polo. No jeans, no jacket required.

Wedding Day: Semi-Formal
Women are encouraged to wear cocktail dresses, dressy midi or ankle-length options, or an elegant jumpsuit. Men should wear a suit or jacket and dress pants; ties are optional but always appropriate. We'll be indoors for the ceremony and reception, and outdoors for cocktail hour.

Farewell Brunch: Come As You Are
No dress code here - show up in whatever feels good to you that morning!

What are the usual dining and shopping hours in Verona?

Everything in Italy moves a little slower and starts a little later. Most shops open around 9:30am, close for a long lunch break in the afternoon (typically from 1-4pm), and then stay open until about 7:30 or 8pm.

Breakfast is usually light and early - usually just a cappuccino and pastry at a café around 8am-10am. Lunch tends to be later, often from 1pm-2:30pm, and is typically followed by a leisurely break. Around 6:30 or 7pm, it’s time for aperitivo - a pre-dinner ritual of drinks and light bites - before settling in for dinner, which rarely begins before 8 or 9pm.

If you’re planning to dine out, just be sure to check hours in advance (especially on Sundays and Mondays as a lot of places may be closed).

Parla Italiano?

You won’t need to be fluent, but a few key Italian phrases can go a long way - especially when ordering coffee, navigating restaurants, or greeting locals. Most people in Verona speak some English, but using a little Italian is always appreciated!

Here are a few to keep in your back pocket:

Buongiorno – Good morning
Buonasera – Good evening
Ciao – Hello / goodbye (informal)
Per favore – Please
Grazie – Thank you
Prego – You’re welcome / please, go ahead
Scusi – Excuse me
Dov’è il bagno? – Where is the bathroom?
Un caffè, per favore – A coffee, please
Il conto, per favore – The check, please

And if all else fails, a smile and “Parla inglese?” (Do you speak English?) usually does the trick.
